Stock Speedometer

Indication Testing

I did this test to see the difference between what the stock speedometer indicated as the top speed and what dynamometer recorded as the top speed.  I have been looking at this for several reasons. Let me think out loud here. I am not sure but I think, to an extent, the ABS controller averages both front and rear wheel signals to produce a speed signal to the ECU. This would mean a different size tire on the rear would not make as much of a difference as it normally would. In the video, the bike goes into a soft limit at 8,500 rpm. My next test will be to inject two signals of a known value to see how it does work. I will write a chip to generate the frequencies. For now, here is this short test.
